Tom Jackson, an Englishman, comes from Hollywood to make a documentary film for a local NGO called Coalition to Combat HIV and AIDS (CCHA). But while Tom cannot speak Amharic, the CCHA staff cannot speak English. And the language barrier becomes a real obstacle for the beautiful Ethiopian girls who dream about marrying Tom and going to America with him. Baleqelem Hilmoch (Colorful Dreams) is now believed to be the funniest comedy film ever made in Ethiopia.
The film was originally called Flying Hearts (Berari Lebboch). However that name was used by another director who promptly released his own film under that name. This film was therefore renamed Colourful Dreams.
